ASC SEN Teaching Assistant – Harrow Location: Harrow area Start Date: September Contract Type: Full-time Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience Supply Desk are seeking a passionate, patient, and dedicated ASC SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in the Harrow area, starting this September. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs. The successful candidate will be committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils access the curriculum and develop their confidence, communication, independence, and social skills. You will play an important role in supporting pupils with their individual needs and helping them achieve their personal and educational goals. Previous experience supporting children with ASC or SEN is desirable, but candidates with a genuine passion for working with children and a willingness to learn will also be considered. Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with ASC and SEN Support pupils to access and engage with the curriculum Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities Help pupils develop their communication, social, emotional, and independence skills Support pupils with sensory needs and individual learning requirements Implement strategies outlined in individual education and support plans Promote positive behaviour using appropriate and consistent strategies Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils Monitor and communicate pupil progress to teachers and the wider SEN team Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers, and other professionals Support pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtimes, and wider school activities Promote safeguarding, inclusion, wellbeing, and equality throughout the school Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable Experience supporting pupils with ASC, SEN, or additional needs is highly desirable A patient, calm, caring, and understanding approach Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to build positive relationships with pupils A commitment to inclusive education and supporting individual needs The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection A willingness to learn and develop knowledge of ASC and SEN strategies Comprehensive safeguarding training Weekly payments Ongoing support from experienced, local education consultants A supportive and welcoming school environment Opportunities for continued professional development, CPD, and specialist SEN training Opportunities to gain valuable experience working with pupils with ASC and SEN Access to a wide range of education opportunities Refer a Friend scheme Requirements What We Offer If you are a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with ASC and SEN, we would love to hear from you.
