The Role
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and well‑structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5, depending on experience). You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high‑quality English lessons that engage and challenge learners
- Teach a broad curriculum including reading, writing, and spoken language skills
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, ensuring inclusive practice
- Assess, track, and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback
- Prepare students for GCSE examinations (and A‑Level where applicable)
- Create a positive and focused classroom environment conducive to learning
- Support students in developing critical thinking and analytical skills
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Degree in English or a related subject
- Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 minimum)
- Strong curriculum knowledge and understanding of assessment frameworks
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Passion for English and a commitment to student achievement
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to commute to Great Missenden and work full‑time from September
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience teaching KS5 (A‑Level English)
- Track record of strong student outcomes
- Ability to contribute to curriculum development
- Experience supporting a range of abilities, including SEN and EAL pupils
