Supply Desk is working in partnership with a supportive and well-regarded secondary school in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, to recruit a dedicated and passionate English Teacher for a September start. This role is ideal for an English specialist who is enthusiastic about literature and language, confident delivering engaging lessons, and committed to helping pupils develop strong literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills.

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring pupils and supporting progress across reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

  • Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Teaching a range of literature, language, and writing skills
  • Preparing students for assessments and GCSE English where applicable
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Assessing pupil progress and providing clear feedback to support improvement
  • Differentiating lessons to meet a range of learning needs
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and/or KS4) (ECTs welcome with relevant English placements)
  • Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • An engaging, enthusiastic, and supportive teaching style
  • Availability to start in September
  • Ability to commute to Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire
