Supply Desk is working in partnership with a supportive and well-regarded secondary school in Windsor, Berkshire, to recruit a dedicated and passionate Food Technology / Design & Technology Teacher for a September start. This role is ideal for a DT specialist with a focus on Food Technology who is enthusiastic about practical learning, confident delivering engaging and hands-on lessons, and committed to helping pupils develop essential life skills, creativity, and a strong understanding of nutrition and food preparation.

The Role

As a Food Technology / DT Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring pupils and supporting progress in both practical and theory-based elements of the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging Food Technology and DT lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Teaching key topics such as nutrition, food preparation, kitchen safety, and design processes
  • Preparing students for assessments and GCSE Food Preparation & Nutrition / DT
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and well-managed classroom and practical learning environment
  • Assessing pupil progress and providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Differentiating lessons to meet a range of learning needs and abilities
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are met at all times in practical lessons
  • Working collaboratively with the DT department and wider school staff
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Food Technology and/or Design & Technology at secondary level (KS3 and/or KS4) (ECTs welcome with relevant DT/Food teaching placements)
  • Strong subject knowledge in Food Technology and DT
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • An engaging, enthusiastic, and supportive teaching style
  • A strong understanding of health and safety in a practical classroom environment
  • Availability to start in September
  • Ability to commute to Windsor, Berkshire
