This full-time, long-term position is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about early years education and experienced in supporting young learners.
Job Description
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the development and learning of nursery-aged children. You will work alongside the class teacher to provide a nurturing and engaging environment that promotes the early years curriculum and fosters the children s curiosity, confidence, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Early Years Curriculum Support: Assist in planning and delivering activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Individual & Group Support: Work with individual pupils and small groups to support their development and learning.
- Positive Classroom Environment: Foster a calm, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that meets the needs of all children.
- Observation & Assessment: Assist with observing, monitoring, and documenting children s progress in line with the EYFS curriculum.
- Supportive Role: Help with preparing resources and setting up engaging activities.
- Additional Needs: Provide additional support to children with special educational needs (SEND) where required.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Early Years or Level 3 qualification in childcare or equivalent is essential (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education).
- Experience: Proven experience supporting children in Nursery or Reception settings is essential.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
- Personal Qualities: A calm, patient, and nurturing individual with a positive approach to supporting children s learning and development.
- Team Player: Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with the teacher and wider team.
- DBS: Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and registration on the update service.
