Supply Desk is working in partnership with a supportive and well-regarded secondary school in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, to recruit a dedicated and passionate Chemistry Teacher for a September start. This role is ideal for a Chemistry specialist who is enthusiastic about science, confident delivering engaging practical and theoretical lessons, and committed to helping pupils develop strong scientific understanding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The Role
As a Chemistry Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Science lessons with a focus on Chemistry across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring pupils and supporting progress in both practical and theoretical aspects of the subject.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging Chemistry lessons in line with the National Curriculum
- Teaching key topics such as atomic structure, chemical reactions, bonding, and energy changes
- Preparing students for assessments and GCSE Chemistry (or Combined Science)
- Delivering safe and effective practical experiments and demonstrations
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
- Assessing pupil progress and providing clear, constructive feedback
- Differentiating lessons to meet a range of learning needs and abilities
- Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
- Working collaboratively with the Science department and wider school staff
- Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Science with a specialism in Chemistry at secondary level (KS3 and/or KS4) (ECTs welcome with relevant Chemistry teaching placements)
- Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- An engaging, enthusiastic, and supportive teaching style
- Availability to start in September
- Ability to commute to Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire
