Are you passionate about helping children develop essential literacy and numeracy skills to succeed in school? Supply Desk are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Literacy & Numeracy Intervention Teaching Assistant – SEN to join our network of supportive and inclusive schools in the Brighton area that we work closely with.
In this role, you will deliver structured intervention sessions to pupils who require additional support with reading, writing, and mathematical understanding—many of whom have Special Educational Needs such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to deliver targeted support, track pupil progress, and help pupils gain confidence in key learning areas.
Your focus will be on enabling pupils to re‑engage with learning, close attainment gaps, and develop the foundational skills they need for long‑term academic success.
Key Skills & Experience:- Experience or a strong interest in delivering literacy and numeracy support to children, particularly those with SEN (ASD, SEMH, ADHD, etc.).
- Strong understanding of phonics, reading development, and foundational maths skills (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to deliver structured, engaging 1:1 and small‑group intervention sessions.
- A patient, encouraging, and consistent approach with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A welcoming and inclusive school environment with a strong focus on pupil wellbeing and academic progress.
- Access to ongoing training in literacy/numeracy intervention strategies, SEN support, and safeguarding.
