Teaching Assistant Full-Time, Long-Term

Supply Desk is excited to be working with a respected primary school in Borehamwood, known for its inclusive community and dedicated staff. We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the school on a full-time, long-term basis, starting in February 2026.

Role Overview

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support students' learning, boost their confidence, and encourage personal growth. You will play a vital role in helping children develop key skills, build independence, and thrive both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students.
  • Assist with classroom organisation and support positive behaviour management.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Assist teachers during lessons and classroom activities.
  • Foster strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Help create and maintain a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on pupils' progress and overall wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or similar environment is preferred.
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive in your approach to supporting students.
  • Confident in behaviour management and classroom routines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An understanding of inclusive practices and safeguarding standards.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
