Supply Desk is working in partnership with a supportive and well-regarded primary school in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, to recruit a dedicated and passionate Year 5 Teacher for a September start. This role is ideal for a committed primary teacher who is enthusiastic about Key Stage 2 education, confident delivering engaging and creative lessons, and dedicated to supporting pupils’ academic progress and personal development as they prepare for the transition to upper KS2.

The Role

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment, and supporting pupils in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum
  • Teaching a broad range of subjects including English, Maths, Science, and foundation subjects
  • Preparing pupils for end-of-year assessments and supporting progression into Year 6
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Assessing pupil progress and providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Differentiating lessons to meet a range of learning needs and abilities
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and senior leaders
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and the wider school community

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (preferably Year 5, though not essential) (ECTs welcome with relevant primary teaching placements)
  • Strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A nurturing, engaging, and adaptable teaching style
  • Availability to start in September
  • Ability to commute to Amersham, Buckinghamshire
