The Role

As an Aspiring SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils in the classroom, including those with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, and SEMH. You will work closely with teachers and experienced staff to develop your skills while making a meaningful impact on pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups
  • Assist with lesson activities and classroom support
  • Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Help adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Support the implementation of IEPs and behaviour strategies
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • A strong interest in working within SEND or education
  • Experience working with children or young people (school, care, youth work or similar)
  • Patient, compassionate, and proactive attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a school setting
  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to work full-time in the Iver area

  • Understanding of SEN needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH)
  • Previous experience in a school or support setting
  • Interest in progressing into teaching or specialist SEND roles
