Supply Desk is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in the Ascot area to recruit a motivated and inspiring English Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to join a supportive department and make a meaningful impact on students’ academic progress.
This role is well-suited to a creative and dedicated teacher who enjoys fostering a love for literature and language, while helping students develop strong analytical and communication skills.
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5, depending on experience). You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage and challenge learners
- Teach a broad curriculum including reading, writing, and spoken language skills
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, ensuring inclusive practice
- Assess, track, and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback
- Prepare students for GCSE examinations (and A-Level where applicable)
- Create a positive and focused classroom environment conducive to learning
- Support students in developing critical thinking and analytical skills
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Degree in English or a related subject
- Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 minimum)
- Strong curriculum knowledge and understanding of assessment frameworks
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Passion for English and a commitment to student achievement
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to commute to Great Missenden and work full‑time from September
