This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to join a supportive department and make a meaningful impact on students’ academic progress.

This role is well-suited to a creative and dedicated teacher who enjoys fostering a love for literature and language, while helping students develop strong analytical and communication skills.

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5, depending on experience). You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage and challenge learners
  • Teach a broad curriculum including reading, writing, and spoken language skills
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, ensuring inclusive practice
  • Assess, track, and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback
  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations (and A-Level where applicable)
  • Create a positive and focused classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Support students in developing critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Degree in English or a related subject
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 minimum)
  • Strong curriculum knowledge and understanding of assessment frameworks
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Passion for English and a commitment to student achievement
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to commute to Great Missenden and work full‑time from September
