Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a friendly and supportive primary school in the Amersham area to appoint a passionate and dedicated Year 2 Class Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a welcoming school community and play a key role in preparing pupils for the transition from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2.

This role would suit an enthusiastic and committed teacher with a strong understanding of KS1 expectations, particularly SATs preparation, who is dedicated to supporting pupils in reaching their full potential.

The Role

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will guide pupils through an important stage of their primary education, helping to consolidate key skills in literacy and numeracy while preparing them for end-of-key-stage assessments in a supportive and engaging environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated Year 2 lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
  • Support pupils’ development in reading, writing, maths, and SPaG
  • Prepare pupils for KS1 SATs in a balanced and supportive way
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
  • Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
  • Promote pupils’ confidence, independence, and resilience
  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2
  • Strong understanding of KS1 curriculum and assessment expectations
  • Experience or confidence in preparing pupils for SATs
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work full-time in the Amersham area from September

Desirable

  • Previous experience teaching Year 2
  • Strong knowledge of KS1 SATs frameworks and moderation
  • Experience supporting pupils transitioning into Key Stage 2
  • Confidence using assessment data to track and accelerate progress
  • Experience supporting children with SEN
