About the Role

Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school, where you'll play a key role in helping pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) achieve their full academic, social, and personal potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum through personalised learning strategies, adapted resources, and targeted interventions.
  • Assist pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and positive engagement.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, supporting their communication, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to support individual learning and progress.
  • Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress, contributing to support plans and reviews where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to develop independence, resilience, and essential life skills.
  • Support pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, educational visits, and other school activities where appropriate.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting individual learning needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team while using initiative when required.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 qualification is desirable but not essential.
