Are you a patient, resilient, and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are currently seeking a 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil on an individual basis within a welcoming and supportive school in Burnham. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference by helping a child overcome barriers to learning and development.
About the Role
- Providing 1:1 support to a child with SEMH needs throughout the school day
- Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to implement tailored support strategies
- Helping to create a safe, calm, and structured environment where the pupil can thrive
- Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and social skills development
The Ideal Candidate Will Be
- Calm, empathetic, and resilient with a strong understanding of SEMH needs
- Experienced in supporting children with SEMH, challenging behaviour, trauma, or ADHD (school-based or similar settings)
- Confident providing consistent 1:1 support and managing emotionally challenging situations
- Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Proactive, flexible, and committed to supporting a child's individual needs
- Committed to safeguarding and child welfare
