Supply Desk is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work in welcoming and supportive secondary schools across Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding Hertfordshire area.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-planned work while maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers, graduates, experienced Teaching Assistants, sports coaches or individuals looking to develop a rewarding career within education.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and engaged.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and communicate instructions clearly.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and expectations.
- Encourage students to complete assigned tasks and maintain positive attitudes towards learning.
- Provide guidance and support to students where appropriate.
- Create a safe, inclusive and respectful classroom environment.
- Monitor student behaviour and report any concerns to relevant school staff.
- Provide feedback to teachers regarding lesson outcomes and student engagement.
- Support students with additional learning needs where required.
- Adapt confidently to different subjects, year groups and classroom environments.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals who enjoy working with young people.
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence in supervising groups of students.
- Good classroom and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to remain calm, organised and professional.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to working in different school environments.
- A genuine interest in education and supporting student development.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
- Previous classroom experience is desirable but not essential.
