The Accounting Team will deliver accurate accounting and reporting across various operating units, to internal and external stakeholders to support timely decision making. In addition, the Accounting Team will be responsible for ensuring robust controls around numbers reported in the financial statements.
The Accounting Manager (Non-Stock) will have overall responsibility for specific operating units (Capital and Maintenance) and ensure that numbers included in the general ledger are accurate, timely and can be supported, and will be the SME for their areas.
Every day you will …
- Oversight of transactions for specific operating units, ensuring accurate accounting with relevant supporting documentation
- Ensure accurate reporting of maintenance contracts, reconciling General Ledger postings to Sub Ledger data (Intenda) and reports produced through the data manipulation tool (Alteryx)
- Ensure accurate reporting of capital transactions, reconciling to purchase and sales agreements
- Maintain processes and controls to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately, timely and in accordance with agreed accounting standards
- Reviewing and ensuring all balance sheet accounts are supported and reconciled with working paper files
- Responsibility for delivery of monthly reporting to key stakeholders of all relevant P&L codes in accordance with relevant timetables, adding insight where relevant
- Ad hoc financial analysis and project support as required
- Liaising with auditors as required, to provide necessary information and resolve queries
- Continual review of processes and procedures associated with the Accounting Team to drive continuous improvement
- Involvement in projects as and when necessary, ensuring that Finance processes and controls are considered

What skills will help you thrive in this role?
- A professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
- 3 to 5 years’ post-qualified experience within Financial Accounting and/or Audit
- Core finance knowledge, with in-depth awareness and understanding of accounting standards and technical guidance
- Proven experience of general ledger accounting and application of accounting standards
- Ability to produce and review working papers and reconciliations
- Good attention to detail with ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet agreed deadlines
- Experience using data manipulation tools such as Alteryx
- High-level NHS operational awareness
- Process improvement and systems implementations
