NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first. As a Senior Deployment Specialist, you will work closely with NHS providers as a subject matter expert to deliver inventory management solutions in hospitals and maximise the value of existing systems nationwide. As part of a small, experienced deployment team, you’ll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders — from procurement and supply chain to clinical, IT, and senior leaders across NHS organisations.

This role offers the opportunity to work independently within NHS Trusts, driving meaningful change and improving ways of working. You’ll bring experience in project and change management, a good understanding of hospital supply chains, and the ability to analyse data to demonstrate impact and benefits. This role covers a broad geographical area across England and will require regular travel, including overnight stays, as you’ll be working on-site within NHS Trusts. It is a hands-on, process improvement role based in hospital environments, with face-to-face engagement rather than a remote, home-based position.

Every day you will …

  • Build Networks & Collaborate: Engage and influence key stakeholders across acute NHS trusts — from operational managers to clinical leads — to ensure alignment, clear scope, and successful adoption of inventory management solutions.
  • Communicate Effectively: Translate complex concepts into clear, practical guidance, supporting stakeholders through new processes and ensuring understanding, engagement, and buy-in at all levels.
  • Drive Results: Deliver national deployment activities in partnership with the core programme team, leading implementation tasks such as stock audits, system configuration, and structured on-site go-live support.
  • Manage Complexity: Navigate the challenges of a complex NHS environment, balancing multiple priorities while embedding sustainable change and improving inventory management practices.
  • Optimise Work Processes & Demonstrate Adaptability: Act as a trusted improvement partner, assessing current inventory processes, identifying optimisation opportunities, and using data-driven insights to increase system utilisation and operational efficiency.

What can we offer you?

  • Hybrid working opportunities, giving you the flexibility to work collaboratively in the office and remotely.
  • Annual bonus schemes, long service, and colleague recognition awards.
  • In-house training, support, and access to external qualifications to maximise your potential.
  • 1 day of paid well-being leave and free access to the 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Generous pension scheme (with us contributing 12% when you contribute 6%).
  • Access to our Flexible Benefits Scheme, where you can choose from a variety of benefits such as Life Insurance, Critical Illness Cover, Income Protection, Health Cash Plan, Dental Insurance, and additional pension contributions that suit you.
  • 2 days of paid volunteering leave allowing you to give back to your community.
  • Access to many discounts from the Blue Light Card to NHS Discounts.

We are a part of the NHS family, and our role is to source, deliver and supply healthcare products, services and food for NHS trusts and healthcare organisations across England and Wales. Doing all of this on behalf of the NHS gives NHS staff more time to focus on their main priority of providing excellent patient care.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

  • Stakeholder management & communication: Ability to influence, build rapport, and communicate effectively with clinical, operational, and executive teams.
  • Technical and analytical capability: Comfortable working with inventory systems, interpreting audit data, and spotting opportunities to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Problem-solving & adaptability: Able to troubleshoot on the ground, adjust to the realities of each trust environment, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong organisational & deployment skills: Able to manage multiple sites, track progress against national timelines, and deliver consistently in fast-moving operational settings.
  • High degree of autonomy & self-direction: Able to operate with minimal supervision, make informed decisions on the ground, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes independently.
