We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the newly formed clinical team in our diagnostics category. You will be responsible for ensuring the clinical and patient voice is heard in the national procurement setting, writing model service and product specifications, providing specialist clinical knowledge to inform procurement strategies, and supporting NHS Trusts to ensure they are getting best value for money with products and services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and supporting innovation, sharing, and driving best practice.
- Assuring the clinical quality and safety of products and activity within a Category.
- Stakeholder management through a clinical engagement process, working across clinical and non-clinical stakeholder functions including regular presentations to teams of specialist clinicians and managing suppliers as part of portfolio activity.
- Influencing uptake and the continuous improvement of the commercial offers by the suppliers through these projects.
- Making recommendations for opportunities with products from across the market which promote standardisation, are clinically sound, and have fiscal responsibility for best use of the budget.
- Chairing supplier/NHS product and award meetings/events, ensuring that informed decisions are made which align to the parameters of the national framework agreement.
Every day you will:
- Use data from a wide range of sources to analyse key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.
- Conduct complex analytics to review “current clinical practice needs” vs “future clinical practice needs” whilst ensuring that the end users are complying with national initiatives and programmes.
- Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team.
- Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function’s strategy and action plan and to the broader organisation’s mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
- Ensure the organization is not exposed to undue risks by using risk management systems to achieve specific goals within a designated area of the business.
- Identify risks associated with products and changes in product portfolios to ensure quality is maintained in the interests of the end users and patients.
- Work within a designated product portfolio with responsibility for project delivery, accurate savings delivery, and uptake across NHS Trusts or ICSs.
- Deliver defined features, functionality, or outcomes from a designated part of the development/engineering program, selecting the best available approach within established systems.
- Be product focused within product categories relating to your experience, often including Class IIb and Class III Medical devices, equipment, care pathway services and solutions, and associated consumables.
- Lead and write technical specifications for tender/procurement processes, deriving the scope, and ensuring product assurance.
