We have an exciting opportunity to be part of the newly formed clinical team in our diagnostics category. You will be responsible for ensuring the clinical and patient voice is heard in the national procurement setting, writing model service and product specifications, providing specialist clinical knowledge to inform procurement strategies, and supporting NHS Trusts to ensure they are getting best value for money with products and services. This includes assessing and supporting innovation, sharing, and driving best practice.
Main duties of the job:
- Assuring the clinical quality and safety of products and activity within a Category.
- Specialist Clinician or Industry product specialist with significant demonstrable and relevant experience working within the specific category product areas for a significant part of their career.
- Focused category product specialist and subject matter experts with a hands-on and working knowledge of the category products and the clinical care associated with the category.
- Stakeholder management through a clinical engagement process, working across clinical and non-clinical stakeholder functions including regular presentations to teams of specialist clinicians and managing suppliers as part of portfolio activity.
- Influencing uptake and the continuous improvement of the commercial offers by the suppliers through these projects.
- Making recommendations for opportunities with products from across the market which promote standardisation, are clinically sound, and have fiscal responsibility for best use of the budget.
- Chairing supplier NHS product and award meetings/events, ensuring that informed decisions are made which align to the parameters of the national framework agreement.

Job responsibilities:
- Use data from a wide range of sources to analyse key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.

- Ensure the organization is not exposed to undue risks by using risk management systems to achieve specific goals within a designated area of the business.
- Identify risks associated with products and changes in product portfolios to ensure quality is maintained in the interests of the end users and patients.
- Work within a designated product portfolio with responsibility for project delivery, accurate savings delivery, and uptake across NHS Trusts or ICs.
- Deliver defined features, functionality, or outcomes from a designated part of the development engineering programme, selecting the best available approach within established systems.
- Responsible for leading and writing technical specifications for tender/procurement processes, deriving the scope, and supporting supply chain resilience within specific categories for National Framework Agreement solutions.
Person Specification:
We are looking for clinical specialists who are subject matter experts in one or more of the following areas: Radiology - MRI/CT/X-ray/Cardiac/Endoscopy/Pathology/Oncology/Theatres/anaesthetics. A minimum of five years' experience working in a clinical background within a complex healthcare organisation either in a hospital or primary care setting is required. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders are essential.
