Educational Psychologists will work with children and young people aged 0–25, families, schools, colleges, early years settings and other professionals to understand and support learning, development, emotional wellbeing and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The role involves working directly with schools and educational settings across Surrey, undertaking assessments and providing clear, evidence-based psychological advice and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake psychological assessments of children and young people experiencing learning, developmental, behavioural, social or emotional difficulties.
- Provide high-quality psychological advice and recommendations for Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments and Annual Reviews.
- Conduct consultations with children, young people, parents, carers, schools and other professionals.
- Identify strengths, needs and appropriate evidence-based interventions.
- Provide recommendations to support learning, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and inclusion.
- Support schools and educational settings to develop effective strategies for pupils with SEND.
- Work collaboratively with education, health, social care and other multi-agency professionals.
- Produce clear, accurate and professional psychological reports and documentation.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout professional practice.
Essential Requirements
- Doctorate in Educational Psychology or recognised equivalent.
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologis and eligibility to work as an Educational Psychologist in the UK.
- Experience undertaking psychological assessments and producing high-quality reports.
- Strong knowledge of child development, learning, cognition and psychological assessment.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
- Experience working with schools, families and multi-agency professionals.
