About the role
A Local Authority in South London is urgently seeking an experienced Allocation and Verification Team Manager to lead and manage a busy housing allocations team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of housing legislation, particularly Part VI of the Housing Act 1996.
You\’ll be responsible for managing the Allocation and Verification Service, including medical assessment functions, overseeing exception cases, and supporting new housing initiatives – ensuring the best use of local housing stock in line with council policies and statutory duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team, ensuring effective allocation of staff, budgets, and resources.
- Implement team plans aligned with strategic objectives and manage performance against these plans.
- Work closely with Service Managers to provide performance updates and customer insights.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive service improvements.
- Monitor team performance using relevant data to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Identify opportunities for service innovation and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development of operational plans that support broader corporate objectives.

- Current Enhanced DBS Disclosure
- Eligibility to work in the UK without work permit or visa restrictions
