We are looking for an exceptional Deputy Head Teacherto join our thriving all-through Special Needs School, supporting children with Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role:

As Deputy Head Teacher, you will work closely with the Head Teacher and leadership team to drive forward the school’s vision and values. You will play a pivotal role in the strategic direction of the school, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning and contributing to the continued development of a positive and inclusive school culture.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing teaching staff across key stages, ensuring high-quality learning experiences tailored to the needs of children with Autism and SEMH.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of individual learning plans for students, working in partnership with families, specialists, and external agencies.
  • Overseeing pastoral care and safeguarding, ensuring that the emotional and mental well-being of students is prioritized.
  • Driving staff development, including mentoring and training, to promote innovative teaching practices and professional growth.
  • Supporting the school’s behavior management strategies, ensuring a calm, safe, and supportive learning environment.
  • Acting as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to whole-school planning, evaluation, and improvement initiatives.

About You:

We are seeking a Deputy Head Teacher who is:

  • An experienced SEN educator, with a strong understanding of Autism and SEMH.
  • Skilled in leadership and management, with a proven ability to inspire and support staff.
  • Passionate about delivering inclusive, child-centered education.
  • An excellent communicator, able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external partners.
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Highly organised, with strong strategic thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, ideally within an SEN setting.
  • Experience in leadership or management roles within a school environment.
  • A postgraduate qualification in SEN (desirable but not essential).
