The Candidate Specification
We're recruiting a Medic for a 70M+ private yacht. The yacht will cruise to Bermuda, Costa Rica and the Galápagos before crossing the Pacific, with possible visits to French Polynesia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. With much of the itinerary in remote areas, the Medic will play a key role in the health and safety of guests and crew. A five-year survey is scheduled for next year, which will help shape the yacht's plans in that period.
The Medic will be responsible for the yacht's medical equipment and supplies, making sure everything on board is complete, in date and ready for use. You'll work closely with the Chief Officer on ordering and managing medical equipment and stock, and liaise directly with MedAire.
The owners put real emphasis on crew welfare. The position includes a 13-month bonus, plus a training allowance after 12 months on board.
The successful candidate will have a recognised medical qualification and be familiar with medical equipment. Previous experience working with MedAire or in a remote, offshore or maritime medical setting would be a strong advantage. A valid B1/B2 visa is essential.
The owner has a very keen eye for detail, and the small things matter on board. The right person will be organised, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, relaxed and easygoing, and someone who takes real pride in their work. The yacht has a strict policy of no tattoos, no piercings, and no smoking or vaping.
