The Quality Controller ensures that all garments meet required technical standards, brand expectations, and customer specifications before leaving production. This role safeguards product consistency, compliance, and performance across all clothing categories, including workwear, protective garments, and high‑visibility apparel.
Product Inspection & Testing
- Conduct visual and technical inspections of garments at various production stages.
- Check measurements, construction quality, stitching accuracy, trims, and finishing.
- Verify compliance with relevant standards (e.g., EN ISO 20471, EN 343, EN 14058, EN 342).
- Perform functional tests such as seam strength, fabric performance, colour fastness, and reflective tape adhesion.
- Approve or reject batches based on defined quality criteria.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete inspection reports with clear pass/fail outcomes and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of defects, trends, and supplier performance.
- Support the creation and refinement of technical specifications and QC checklists.
- Work closely with manufacturing partners to resolve quality issues.
- Communicate defects, root causes, and corrective actions in a clear, constructive manner.
- Support pre‑production meetings and sample reviews.
- Identify recurring issues and propose process improvements.
- Contribute to quality audits and internal reviews.
- Support the development of new QC procedures, tools, and training materials.
Qualifications
- Experience in garment quality control, garment technology, or apparel manufacturing.
- Understanding of garment construction, pattern cutting, and fabric behaviour.
- Ability to interpret technical packs, measurement charts, and compliance standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Confident communicator with suppliers, production teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of PPE and workwear standards (Clothing, Gloves and Footwear).
- Experience with AQL inspection methods.
- Familiarity with CAD patterns or garment testing equipment.
- Calm, consistent, and objective when assessing quality.
- Strong problem‑solver with a practical mindset.
- Collaborative, professional, and able to build positive supplier relationships.
