Mid-Level 2D Game Artist in London

We are looking for a creative and versatile Mid Level 2D Game Artist to join our team on Cook & Merge! In this role, you will focus on 2D asset creation, designing characters, props, items and UI elements. We actively embrace Generative AI as a core creation tool. Whether you are already proficient in AI image generation or a digital artist enthusiastic about mastering these tools on the job, we want your creative vision and technical drive!

Responsibilities:

• Asset Creation: Design and create 2D assets for casual mobile games, including environments, items, character concepts, icons, and UI elements.
• Unity Setup: Import, slice, organize, and set up 2D art assets directly inside Unity (Sprite Renderers, UI Canvas layouts, prefab creation).
• AI-Assisted Workflow: Incorporate Generative AI tools into your daily asset creation workflow and learn to use them to streamline production and explore new visual ideas.
• Team Collaboration/Communication: Work with artists, game designers, developers, and product leads to deliver production-ready artwork that fits gameplay needs.

Requirements:

• Experience: 4+ years of professional experience as a 2D artist in the casual mobile gaming space.
• Tool Proficiency: Strong expertise in standard 2D creative software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator etc).
• Art Fundamentals: Strong core skills in colour theory, lighting, shape language, composition, and casual mobile aesthetics.
• Engine Knowledge: Practical, hands-on experience using Unity to set up 2D assets and UI.
• Generative AI Readiness: Either hands-on experience using AI creation tools (Layer, Scenario) or no prior AI experience, but a genuine interest and willingness to learn AI creation workflows.
• Portfolio: Demonstrates strong 2D digital art, casual mobile style capabilities, showing examples of characters, items and UI.

Pluses:

• Basic 2D animation experience in Spine or Unity.
• Experience with Unity particle systems.
