Our client is a market-leading provider of automated warehousing, material handling and intralogistics solutions, delivering cutting-edge automation technology to some of the UK's biggest manufacturers, distribution centres and logistics operations.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Field Service Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join their expanding engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an electrically qualified, multi-skilled engineer who enjoys variety, travelling to customer sites, solving technical problems and working on advanced automated equipment.

The Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of automated warehouse systems across customer sites throughout the UK.

Working both independently and alongside project and service teams, you'll ensure equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently while delivering outstanding customer service.

No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for engineers who enjoy problem-solving and working with the latest automation technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on automated warehouse and material handling systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Install, commission and test automated equipment.
  • Respond to customer breakdowns and minimise downtime.
  • Perform electrical fault finding using schematics and technical drawings.
  • Support PLC-controlled equipment and automation systems.
  • Complete service reports and maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and provide first-class technical support.
  • Travel throughout the UK, with occasional overnight stays where required.

About You

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys working in the field and thrives in a customer-facing environment.

You should have

  • Electrical engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • A strong electrical bias with good mechanical knowledge.
  • Experience working as a Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Service Technician.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills on electrical and electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience with conveyors, automated warehousing, material handling systems, robotics, packaging machinery, manufacturing equipment or industrial automation would be highly advantageous.
  • The ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A flexible approach to nationwide travel.
