About the role
Our Portfolio Underwriter will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial package policies, primarily across UK Property & Casualty classes, while supporting selective underwriting of Professional Indemnity risks. The role focuses on delivering profitable growth, maintaining underwriting discipline, and building strong broker relationships.
What you'll get up to:
- Underwrite new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments within delegated authority.
- Evaluate risk across core P&C lines including:
- Property (material damage, business interruption)
- Liability (employers, public, and products liability)
About you:
- Experience in UK commercial underwriting.
- Exposure to package policies or SME/mid-market business preferred.
- Experience in Professional Indemnity is desirable.
- Progress towards or completion of a professional insurance qualification (e.g. CII).
- Experience contributing to portfolio analysis, pricing reviews, or underwriting strategy.
- Demonstrable underwriting judgement with the ability to balance risk, pricing, and commercial considerations.
- Experience working with brokers and managing broker relationships.
- Good understanding of FCA regulation and the UK insurance market.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
