Overview
This role offers a unique opportunity to join a high-impact digital transformation programme within the Defence sector, focusing on developing and supporting a secure data platform over the next five years. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be part of a specialist team providing critical support during a pivotal period, ensuring secure infrastructure delivery and smooth onboarding for tenants, within sensitive defence and national security environments.
Responsibilities
- Test, maintain, and develop platform infrastructure aligned with project strategy
- Provide technical leadership in MECM (SCCM), Windows Server infrastructure, patching, and endpoint protection
- Lead Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager upgrades and ensure operational support
- Collaborate with security teams on accreditation and assurance processes
- Liaise with vendors and service providers as the technical lead or design authority
- Identify and implement service improvements in a fast-paced environment
- Support infrastructure integration with DevOps teams, with scripting or automation experience as a bonus
Requirements
- Active SC clearance minimum
- Experience in secure, critical environments, ideally within Defence or Government
- Knowledge of MOD accreditation and security frameworks
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Knowledge of ITIL processes
- Expertise in:
- Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM)
- WSUS and patch management
- DOBUS (Defence Out of Band Update Service)
- Windows Active Directory, Group Policies, Windows Server
- Windows Defender AV updates
- Windows security lockdowns, CIS-CAT scoring
Preferred Skills
- PowerShell scripting or DevOps experience
- Experience with Artefactory for patch repositories
