Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality 3D environments, props, foliage, terrain and modular kits within Unreal Engine.
  • Interpret and work with concept art, storyboards and design briefs to create compelling, atmospheric environments that align with the artistic vision of the product.
  • Take environments from Whitebox to full production quality, establishing visual identity and worldbuilding landmarks.
  • Build scenes that support gameplay, narrative pacing, cinematic moments and emotional tone.
  • Collaborate closely with Lighting, VFX, Technical Art, Animation, Level Design and Engineering, including working effectively within FX‑ and Tech‑Art‑heavy event pipelines.
  • Act on feedback to bring scenes to final quality in an iterative manner.
  • Create detailed interaction props that meet animation and rigging requirements.
  • Work with Unreal Engine terrain tools, worldbuilding systems and environment‑focused workflows, ensuring environments meet both high visual quality and tight performance targets.
  • Conduct regular reviews of work and assets in‑engine to ensure game environments, scene props and assets are fully optimised, visually consistent and meet the agreed art style, scene brief, and technical guidelines.
  • Create and implement detailed props for closeup character interactions that meet animation and rigging technical requirements and remain performant.
  • Use strong artistic fundamentals (composition, colour, silhouette, scale and storytelling) to deliver visually cohesive scenes.
  • Systematically review briefs to assess required assets and identify where existing assets can be reused, repurposed, or retextured.
  • Provide accurate time estimates for work, identifying potential issues or blockers throughout and actively communicating these to production as required.

Requirements

  • Highly competent modelling on both organic and manmade forms.
  • Excellent material knowledge and accurate portrayal of surfaces.
  • Strong observance of scale relationships and attention to detail.
  • Sense of ‘personality' and storytelling evident in environments.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine, including building scenes, materials and optimisation workflows.
  • Understanding of scalability, performance constraints and optimisation in real‑time engines (preferably Unreal), with examples demonstrating this in shipped or unreleased projects.
  • Proficiency with Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer or similar tools.
  • Practical knowledge of Blueprint, Material Editor, Niagara and real‑time lighting (not all required, but familiarity with some is beneficial in our workflows).
  • Strong artistic understanding of composition, colour theory, lighting and environmental storytelling.
  • Ability to stand up ideas quickly and refine later; rapid prototyping is valuable in our workflow and review process.
  • A low‑ego, collaborative mindset; our development evolves quickly, and ideas or work may change direction as we iterate.
  • Ability to work within technical constraints while maintaining high visual quality.

Benefits

  • 25 Days Annual Leave (3 of which are used when we close the studio for our end of year break).
  • Private Medical Insurance (BUPA).
  • Medicash assistance (Including dental and optician support).
  • Life Assurance (6 x annual salary).
