Superior Industrial Maintenance is looking for an Industrial Sandblaster to assist on a local job in Manchester, Washington for a minimum of 6 months. A Sandblaster is responsible for sandblasting surfaces to remove old paint, rust, and other debris. The Sandblaster uses specialized equipment to spray a high-pressure stream of sand, steel grit, or other abrasive material onto the surface in order to clean and prepare it for painting, coating, or other treatments. The Sandblaster must possess a working knowledge of proper safety procedures and techniques to ensure that all work is completed effectively and safely. The Sandblaster may also be responsible for operating other related equipment, such as sandblasting cabinets and vacuum systems. General knowledge of worksite safety, painting, coatings, and surface preparation is required, and experience in the construction trades is a major plus.
- Prepare surfaces for painting or other finishing work
- Operate a sandblasting machine to clean, strip, or finish surfaces
- Adjust pressure and flow of sandblasting material, and move nozzle to direct material
- Cover and protect surrounding areas from sandblasting
- Remove sandblasted material from equipment and clean work areas
- Inspect equipment and work area for safety issues
- Adhere to all safety regulations
- Pressure wash to remove surface contaminants from surfaces before coatings applications
- Follow and review all safety operating protocol outlined by Project Manager, Superintendent, and Foreman on the job
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of sandblasting equipment and techniques
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Operate sandblasting equipment
- Select appropriate blasting media
- Prepare surfaces to be blasted
- Follow safety protocols
- Detail-oriented
- Strong communication skills
- OSHA 10 certification or ability to complete OSHA 10 certification within the first week of start date (company paid)
- Able to lift and/or move 50 lbs. or more and meet the physical demands of the role
- Able to kneel, crouch, bend over, and stand for more than 8 hours at a time
- Ability to communicate through both written and verbal communication
- 1-2 years experience with coatings or in the construction industry
- Department of Defense experience is a plus
- Ability to work weekends
Pay rate for this position will be $20/hour to $25/hour depending on experience and qualifications. All employment at Superior is contingent upon successfully completing a drug screen and background check.
