Join our dedicated team providing compassionate, one-to-one care for a child with complex health needs in the comfort of their home. If you have a passion for delivering life-changing, relationship-focused care and specialist clinical support, this role offers a truly rewarding opportunity.
The Role
We are seeking an empathetic Registered Nurse in Sandwich to provide dedicated 1:1 night-time bedside care. Although this role takes place in the family home, it remains a clinical, hands-on nursing position, centred around delivering high-quality care to one child while working closely with their family.
We have a vacancy for a part-time nurse working 1-2 regular night shifts per week. Once you have been fully inducted into the package, your shift pattern will be consistent and predictable, offering stability and continuity - this is not an ad-hoc agency role.
You will be caring for a wonderful non-verbal girl aged between 12-16 years. She expresses her personality through sounds, expressions, and movements, and she thrives around fun, bubbly people who will take the time to get to know her. Over time, you will naturally build a close, trusting relationship with both her and her family, becoming a valued and familiar presence in their home.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering continuous feeds and medications via jejunal route (PEGJ)
- Colostomy care
- Oxygen therapy and monitoring vital signs and saturations
- Airway positioning
- Hypertonic saline and colomycin nebulisers
- Chest percussion and cough assist (full training provided)
- Deep naso- and oropharyngeal suctioning (training provided)
- Monitoring and responding to seizure activity
- Safe moving and handling
This is a deeply meaningful role where your clinical expertise and compassionate approach will directly enhance the wellbeing, safety, and comfort of a young person.
Training and Induction
You will receive a thorough induction, delivered in partnership with the family and the existing care team. This ensures you feel confident, supported, and fully prepared before working independently within the package. Ongoing training and supervision will also be provided to maintain your clinical competence and confidence.
Shift Pattern (set schedule)
Sunday: 22:00 - 07:00 and opportunity for cover during the week. A regular working pattern will be confirmed once your induction is complete, giving you full clarity over your rota throughout the year.
Essential Requirements
- NMC registration
- Knowledge of infection control
- Experience in paediatric or complex care
