Overview
We are seeking an empathetic Registered Nurse in Sandwich to provide dedicated, one-on-one care during nights. We have a vacancy for a part-time nurse working 1-2 shifts per week to support a non-verbal girl aged between 10-16 years. She communicates through sounds, expressions, and movements, and enjoys time with kind, bubbly caregivers who may become part of the family. This role involves delivering high-quality clinical care, including administering continuous feeds and medications via jejunal route (PEGJ device), colostomy care, oxygen therapy, monitoring vital signs and saturation levels, airway positioning, hypertonic saline and colomycin nebuliser, chest percussion, and cough assist (training provided). You will also perform deep naso- and oropharyngeal suctioning (training provided), monitor and respond to seizure activity, and assist with safe moving and handling. Full training and a comprehensive induction process, in partnership with the family and existing team, will ensure you feel confident and well-supported in your role.
Responsibilities
- Able to commit to 1 night per week and coordinate with the existing team to fit your availability
- Provide 1-2-1 support to a child with complex care needs
- Work closely with the Nurse Manager Team to provide quality paediatric care
- Commit to a regular working pattern and collaborate with Care Coordinators for effective care delivery
- Build rapport with clients and families, working within the family home to achieve individual goals
- Potential for growth and development into a supervisor or management role
- Optional: 2 regular shifts per week
- Ability to provide intensive bedside nursing on waking night shifts and fit seamlessly into the family setting
- UK driving license and access to own vehicle
- Compassion, confidence, and a gentle caring nature
- Experience in delivering care to complex clients, preferably in the community
- Clean and valid Registered Nurse pin with at least 1 year post-registration experience
- Right to work in the UK
Qualifications
- NMC registration; knowledge of infection control; experience in paediatric or complex care
