Warehouse Operative – Assembly Walk Picking

Stead House Distribution Centre, Darlington

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 2pm – 10pm. Total Hours Per Week: 40

Introduction: An exciting opportunity to be part of our successful Superdrug Supply Chain; working within one of our busy Distribution centres as a Warehouse Operative. This vacancy is for the Savers DC known as Stead House Distribution Centre; based in Darlington. The hours of will we be predominantly as stated above but flexibility will be required across all other shift patterns.

Role Purpose

The Warehouse operative plays a key role in ensuring that the customers (stores) orders are picked and packed in a neat, accurate and safe manner to meet daily deadlines. This role will report to the Operations Team Leader for Stead House Distribution Centre.

Typical day

  • Picking products in line with order requirements
  • Ensuring all agreed daily/weekly work performances are achieved to the required standard as a minimum
  • Always maintaining excellent packing and accuracy disciplines
  • Ensuring that all picked stock is clean and undamaged; reporting any issues to your Line Manager
  • Working collaboratively with the team to actively reduce shrinkage
  • Keeping the work area clean and tidy by adopting a \”Clean-As-You-Go\” discipline. This may include, but not limited to: cleaning up spills, wiping down surfaces, removing waste bins and generally keeping the work area, tools and equipment clean, safe, and free from hazard
  • Assisting the Operational Team in all aspects of Health and Safety and reporting all accidents/incidents/ near misses immediately to your Line Manager

What you\’ll need

  • Previous picking experience within a warehouse environment (not essential)
  • Experience of bar code readers (HHT)/Voice picking would be an advantage
  • Flexible approach to performing other duties within the warehouse as requested by your Line Manager
  • High level of numeracy
  • Excellent time and attendance record
  • Good teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work on your own
  • Always demonstrate and maintain a high level of health and safety awareness around the warehouse, ensuring own safety and the safety of others. Adopting the ASW, H&S Values: Always Safe at work; think smart, think safe
