Overview

Warehouse Operative - Assembly Walk Picking

Location: Stead House Distribution Centre (Savers DC), Darlington

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 10pm–6am. Total hours per week: 40. This vacancy is for the Savers DC known as Stead House Distribution Centre; based in Darlington. The hours will predominantly be as stated above but flexibility will be required across all other shift patterns.

Role Purpose

The Warehouse operative plays a key role in ensuring that store orders are picked and packed in a neat, accurate and safe manner to meet daily deadlines. This role reports to the Operations Team Leader for Stead House Distribution Centre.

Typical Day / Responsibilities

  • Picking products in line with order requirements
  • Ensuring all agreed daily/weekly work performances are achieved to the required standard as a minimum
  • Maintaining excellent packing and accuracy disciplines
  • Ensuring that all picked stock is clean and undamaged; reporting any issues to your Line Manager
  • Working collaboratively with the team to actively reduce shrinkage
  • Keeping the work area clean and tidy by adopting a \"Clean-As-You-Go\" discipline, which may include cleaning up spills, wiping surfaces, removing waste bins and keeping the work area, tools and equipment clean, safe and hazard-free
  • Assisting the Operational Team in all aspects of Health and Safety and reporting all accidents/incidents/near misses immediately to your Line Manager

What you’ll need

  • Previous picking experience within a warehouse environment (not essential)
  • Experience of bar code readers (HHT)/Voice picking would be an advantage
  • Flexible approach to performing other duties within the warehouse as requested by your Line Manager
  • High level of numeracy
  • Excellent time and attendance record
  • Good teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work on your own
  • Always demonstrate and maintain a high level of health and safety awareness around the warehouse, ensuring own safety and the safety of others. Adopting the ASW, H&S Values: Always Safe at work; think smart, think safe
