An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the successful Superdrug Supply Chain team; working within one of our three busy Distribution Centres which supports store deliveries to Superdrug and Savers as a Transport Manager. This vacancy is based at our Southern Region Distribution centre; located in Dunstable. With over 770 Superdrug stores under our portfolio; we aim to deliver the BEST; The right product, in the right place at the right time; delivered at unbeatable cost, through a skilled and committed Supply Chain Team. The role will involve delivering to both Superdrug and Savers brands. The Transport Manager is accountable and responsible for Transport Operations; including outbound store deliveries, trunking operations between DC’s and the 3rd party hub sites for A.S. Watson brands. Working with the agency driver provider and onsite teams to ensure excellent delivery standards and success across permanent and agency HGV Drivers and HGV Driver's Mates.
Ensuring store deliveries arrive on time and in full, as measured by system data and store feedback, within an agreed £ budget.
Inspiring the Transport Teams to deliver best practice routines and logistical excellence so that stores have the best opportunity to maximise availability and delight our customers.
Safe and Compliant! To be fully accountable for all Health and Safety aspects of the Transport operation. You will be joint O Licence holder and will ensure that the operation adheres to DVSA regulations. Operational Excellence! To work effectively with Distribution colleagues and 3rd Parties in maximising sales through optimised logistic operations. To develop and implement local solutions to drive and succeed in Transport excellence. Security! To effectively manage security of property and product and transport assets through consistent delivery of the agreed protocols Getting the best out of our people! To be an active member of the senior transport management team. To be accountable for the management and leadership of the on-site Transport Team and to develop a positive and vibrant culture where continuous improvement is the norm. Service & Delivery Performance! On time service delivery, pro- actively manage customer needs and communication ensuring total satisfaction Work collaboratively with Transport Teams at other DC’s, Transport Planning and Warehouse teams.
Key skills & attributes: Transport Manager CPC qualified (essential)
Proven experience managing a transport team (essential)
Proven experience of being named and active on the Operator’s Licence (essential)
Experience of managing a sizeable or relatable HGV fleet (essential)
Previous working as a HGV Driver (desirable) Ability to engage, communicate and lead a team efficiently Required to plan and organise own work, within own parameters Ability to persuade, influence and engage peers, team members and senior management Actively listens, presents information in an appropriate style making technical information clear
