Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Working with department Contract Owners, Procurement Partners and Directors alongside finance partners, the legal team and the Own brand Procurement Team to advise on all procurement matters.
  • Line management of a Procurement Buyer with oversight of all non-trade tender plans and contract signing, to track project progress and deliverables with reporting responsibilities to Senior management and the business.
  • Preparing and tracking investment business cases and tender recommendations for relevant approvals from the Business Unit Investment Committee and Group Investment Committee for high spend projects.
  • Key objectives include achieving cost saving targets, contract compliance and continuous improvement activities to achieve the goal of a best-in-class procurement function, including comms, training plans and overall management of the UK Investment Committee (IC) commercial section.
  • Identifying and completing tenders according to company policies and established best practice within timescales that ensure contracts are in place and key services not disrupted.
  • Carrying out supplier sourcing and spend analysis activities to identify opportunities to positively impact on commercial contracts, profitability and business efficiencies.
  • Supporting different departments across the business in setting up and running tenders and quotation processes and category/supplier management.
  • Running selected tenders from initial requirement, market analysis, tender/contract management, implementation, post analysis/lessons learnt while working with subject matter experts from different departments.
  • Recording and sharing information to ensure an accurate UK contract database and feed into the visibility of upcoming contract expiry dates, break options and potential savings opportunities.
  • Supporting the relationship with Group Procurement Services (GPS) and collaborating on inter-UK Businesses and international tenders that cover the UK.

Qualifications you need for this role

You need to have solid procurement experience, particularly in partnering categories to support contract owners and assess category requirements as well as experience in leading a formal tender process from start to the completed contract. A degree in business or CIPs qualification would be valuable.
