Here The Exciting Bit… A Day Includes:
- Lead the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the site Health and Safety management systems.
- Coach and develop the DC management teams to drive ownership and leadership qualities within the Distribution Centre.
- Lead the Health and Safety Training Team delivering all MHE and all elements of health & safety training programmes.
- Business partnering with the DC management teams to lead and influence all on site health and safety activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the primary instigator and co-ordinator for the planning and implementation of the employee health and safety, taking lead on initiatives for continuous improvements.
- Lead the Safety Training Team in delivering all MHE and health & safety training.
- Ensuring systems and processes are in place to meet statutory compliance.
- Lead development / improvements of risk assessments and safe system of works throughout the DC, ensuring consistency across the supply chain.
- Ensure Managers, Team Leaders and employees are trained and equipped to carry out their legislative health and safety obligations, coaching and supporting where needed.
- Be the supply chain expert in all health and safety matters, business partnering with the site management team to drive the health and safety agenda and culture.
- Attending relevant health and safety meetings, site management meetings and 3rd party meetings as required to provide competent safety advice.
- Lead site safety audits and inspections and implementing & monitoring corrective actions to conclusion.
- Monitor health and safety implementation on site, liaising with managers to raise issues of non-compliance offering advice, coaching and support where required.
- Lead the completion of accident investigations and statutory reporting for effective closure as required, so that incidents are fully addressed with causation factors and learnings.
- Collate, report and analyse accident statistics and other health and safety KPI’s to senior management and the Health and Safety Committees and publish / communicate corrective measures to minimise / eliminate their reoccurrence.
- Lead supply chain and 3rd party safety audits, escalating to relevant stakeholder.
- Conduct company health and safety inductions, safety tours and safety inspections.
- Provide guidance and direction to safety representatives, fire marshal’s, senior fire marshal and first aiders and maintain / communicate updated lists.
- Report all necessary communications with the Environment Health Office & Primary Authority to the Senior H&S Manager.
- Pursue continuous professional development, ensuring your own skills and knowledge are always up to date with the latest changes in legislation and codes of practice, implementing any required operational changes and upskilling the management team as needed.
- Positively contribute to ensuring a site culture that demonstrates the Company values.
- Take a flexible approach to business needs, supporting other areas as required.
- Take an innovating lead role in the continuous development of the Distribution Health and Safety management Systems.
- Lead distribution fire risk assessment programme ensuring full compliance under the FSRRO 2005.
Essential:
- Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety Qualification or working towards.
- Training / train the trainer Qualification and experience.
Desirable:
- Relevant health and safety experience gained in a multi-site / FCMG / distribution environment.
- Fire safety qualification.
Development:
AS Watson actively promote and facilitate personal continuous development.
Ability to take the lead and coach in all on site health and safety situations offering competent health and safety advice.
Ability to plan and organise all induction and refresher MHE and Health & Safety training.
Excellent relationship management and business partnering skills with the confidence and presence to influence the management team and senior stakeholders.
Forward thinking with the ability to proactively solve problems.
Self-motivator who can prioritise workload and work well under pressure.
Resilience to continuously drive and lead the health and safety culture.
