We deliver health and social care services for people in Northamptonshire. The 'Recovering Independence Bed' unit is delivered by a range of staff from health and social care settings to provide clinical care, rehabilitation support and to ensure patients experience the best quality of service in a prompt and smooth fashion. The service provides a unique opportunity to work with a dedicated team experienced in health and social care to deliver vital intermediate care for patients stepping down from acute hospitals.

As an integral member of the senior management team within the unit, you will work collaboratively with the Service Manager, Nursing and Quality Lead and the Social Care Manager, supporting the wider clinical team as required. It is strongly encouraged to arrange an informal conversation prior to applying for the post. About Us: NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. Many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multi‑professional team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and rehabilitation technicians employed by West Northamptonshire Council.
  • Provide clinical supervision for junior physiotherapists and occupational therapists at other sites as required.
  • Ensure that quality care is delivered to all patients within the centre, safe and effective delegation of junior staff.
  • Lead the assessment of the healthcare needs of patients and develop treatment plans reflecting those needs.
  • Assist junior colleagues in problem‑solving relating to patients.
  • Support and develop the team, undertaking appraisals, supervision, training and development with junior colleagues.
  • Lead the rostering and recruitment process for therapists when the need arises.
  • Monitor the quality of care the patients are receiving.
  • Develop new ways of working in the centre and foster strong links with other services and the wider community.
  • Be well‑organised, confident, adaptable and resourceful to deliver high‑quality patient care.

Essential Qualifications:

  • HCPC registered.
  • Previous team management experience.
  • Recent experience of inpatient rehabilitation (within past 2 years).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Post‑graduate qualification or other development in management.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to deliver and manage projects within short timescales.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, organising a varied workload.
  • Effective negotiation skills that demonstrate a flexible, staff‑ and patient‑friendly approach.

  • Previous on‑call experience.
