NHFT are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to work within Integrated Substance Misuse Service within HMP Ranby to deliver a comprehensive range of needs-based health care services to patients with substance misuse issues.

The Substance Misuse team is part of the integrated healthcare provision at HMP Ranby. The team consists of Integrated Substance Misuse Nurses, HCAs and Substance Misuse Practitioners. HMP Ranby is a Category C prison for men in Retford, Nottinghamshire. Clinical Services are delivered from a well-equipped Healthcare Centre and on residential houseblocks within the prison.

This role is to work as part of the ISMS team, providing support to patients and the wider healthcare team, ensuring safe working practice in a secure environment in accordance with the Prison Healthcare Standard, Prison Service rules and Prison Service Standing Orders. The post holder will work in close liaison with other disciplines within the prison setting and with external agencies in meeting the holistic needs of the patients.

To work at times without direct supervision to support the safe prescribing of substance misuse medication, including methadone, espranor and long-acting buprenorphine (Buvidal), in line with National Clinical Guidelines for the management of substance misuse. Undertaking delegated tasks such as BBV and urine drug testing, ECGs and reporting back to the Senior Practitioners, Nurses and Prescriber. To actively participate in the ongoing development of positive working relationships with officers and staff throughout the prison.
