Overview
We are looking for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join the NHS Northamptonshire Talking Therapies service. You will deliver evidence-based, low-intensity interventions to help people understand and manage their mental health, in face-to-face, online, or phone-based formats. This role supports individuals experiencing common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression, in a busy but supportive team environment.
As a PWP, you will be a key part of someoneβs recovery journey, helping people find hope, build coping strategies, and feel empowered to move forward within a team that collaborates, supports each other, and cares about delivering good care. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient-centred assessments to identify appropriate support
- Provide low-intensity CBT-based interventions (including guided self-help & psychoeducation)
- Carry out risk assessments and manage caseloads using a stepped-care approach
- Create shared treatment plans delivered through a variety of modalities
- Work closely with high-intensity therapists, employment advisors, and admin
- Liaise with other agencies and signpost to external support where needed
- Maintain accurate clinical records and use outcome measures to guide decisions
- Participate in case management and clinical supervision
- Contribute to continuous service improvement
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate or postgraduate certificate in Low-Intensity Psychological Interventions
- Experience within a Talking Therapies/IAPT service
- Skilled in delivering low-intensity CBT interventions
- Ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic IT skills (e.g., Word, data systems)
Desirable Experience
- Qualifications in psychology, counselling, nursing, OT, or social work
- Experience using IAPTUS or similar systems
- Additional mental health-related training
