Superchem Industries – in partnership with Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (NHFT) – is recruiting a Senior Staff Nurse HIV to provide an integrated specialist sexual health and HIV nursing service.
Job Summary
This role involves working alongside senior nurses to support, advise, educate and provide information to clients attending the NISHH service at Northampton, Kettering and other outreach settings. The post is specifically for the management of HIV patients; the proportion of work dedicated to GU/SRH will depend on the post-holder's skills and interest in line with service need and the post-holder will be expected to work across both hub sites throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the HIV MDT, including the specialist HIV pharmacy team and psychology services, to manage the cohort of patients living with HIV who attend the Summers Unit.
- Provide adherence support, education to patients and their partners/families, and the provision of holistic care.
- Participate in the presentation of relevant information for the weekly HIV MDT meetings.
- Undertake venepuncture appointments for people living with HIV.
- Collaborate with other health professionals such as Occupational Health, antenatal teams and local hospitals to provide cohesive care.
- Deliver difficult results, including a diagnosis of HIV, face-to-face and via telemedicine.
- Work across the county throughout the week, including attending St Mary's Hospital in Kettering and Northampton General Hospital.
- The post holder will follow local and national protocols, under the supervision of senior doctors, and support new ways of working within the HIV Unit (Summers Unit).

- Mentorship or assessor/supervisor training
Essential Skills and Experience
- Venepuncture competence
- Experience working in HIV or GU services at Band 5 level
- Demonstrated knowledge of STI's and STI testing
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIV care
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience working on Lilie and using ICE
- Demonstrable knowledge of managing patients requesting PEP
