An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHFT to work as an Assistant Psychologist within the Mental Health Treatment Requirement Team (MHTR). The role involves engaging with men and women who have been convicted of low‑level offending and who have co‑occurring mental health difficulties. The Assistant Psychologist will deliver low‑level psychological interventions, including psychoeducation for depression, anxiety, and trauma, and will also contribute to audit, policy and service development through research skills. The position requires involvement in both the assessment process and the interventions as part of the MHTR. NHFT seeks a diverse workforce that is values‑driven, compassionate and committed to delivering high‑quality care daily. It is a county‑wide service; therefore, travel is essential.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Upper second‑class honours degree or higher in psychology
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Experience as an assistant psychologist with people with mental health problems or other disabilities
  • Experience using psychological assessments, formulations, risk assessments and care planning

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with offenders
  • Further postgraduate training in professional psychology, mental health practice or research design and analysis
  • Ability to apply psychological knowledge with clients
