Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician. The post will be based at Berrywood Hospital in Northampton and is a permanent part‑time role. This varied role requires the successful applicant to work independently and within the pharmacy team on allocated wards and to support the provision of a locality‑based clozapine clinic service in partnership with community mental health teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work on mental health and physical health inpatient teams to support medicines reconciliation and management of medication supply for in‑patients and community patients, including stock, non‑stock, discharge, leave, and self‑medication.
  • Participate in audits and support the use of the electronic prescribing system.
  • Provide a medicines management pharmacy service to allocated in‑patient areas.
  • Work with ward pharmacists to identify new patients and complete the medicines reconciliation process using SystmOne, assess patients’ own medication and communicate with patient/carer or external organisations as appropriate.
  • Liaise with ward pharmacists and staff on relevant medicines management issues to ensure concordance and highlight any discrepancies.
  • Provide a locality‑based clozapine clinic service in partnership with community mental health teams to facilitate same‑day supply of medication.
  • Co‑ordinate the supply of clozapine to both in‑patients and out‑patients across Northamptonshire with the dispensary team.

Qualifications

  • Current registration and membership with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent).

Essential Experience

  • Post‑qualification experience in the NHS as a pharmacy technician.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous use of SystmOne or other electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) systems.
  • Ward‑based medicines management experience.
  • Experience of supplying clozapine.

  • Pay: £31,049 to £37,796 per year pro‑rata.
  • Band: 5.
