In this role you will support and provide a high‑quality service to children and young people (and their families) experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. This will be done through direct delivery of evidence‑based CBT interventions to support the recovery of young people referred to the service, utilising skills and knowledge of CBT and child and adolescent mental health practice. This work will be in accordance with clinical governance processes and professional standards. If required, you may be expected to undertake further training such as the Supervisor's Training Course.

Main Duties

  • Provide Cognitive Behaviour Therapy within the Core Community CAMHS Team, including assessment, formulation and intervention for children/young people as determined by need.
  • Provide CBT consultation and support to other clinical members of the team who provide care and treatment.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the governance of psychological therapy practice with the specialism.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support and provide a high‑quality service to children and young people and their families with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
  • Directly deliver evidence‑based CBT interventions to support recovery.
  • Maintain clinical governance and comply with professional standards.
  • Participate in further professional training as required.

Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent (e.g., accredited CBT Therapist, CYPIAPT or Accredited CBT Degree/Master's).
  • Appropriate and valid UK professional registration in psychology, systemic family therapy, psychotherapy, teaching, social work, nursing, occupational health.
  • Demonstrated evidence of working practice as a CBT psychotherapist or trainee.
  • Knowledge of a range of CBT evidence‑based therapeutic interventions and skills to apply them based on the child's need.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Maintenance of current specific professional and legal standards of practice in accordance with professional codes of conduct.
  • Responsibility for maintaining professional registration.
  • Completing a CBT supervisor's course.

Essential Experience

  • Experience working with children and young people with mental health presentations.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Qualification or relevant experience in leadership and management or equivalent in health and social care management.
  • Experience with cognitive behavioural therapy clinical interventions in groups and/or one-to-one.
  • Experience using and interpreting ROMs.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience at band 6 or equivalent.
  • Clinical development experience.
  • Collaborative working experience.
  • Effective engagement with families and carers.
  • Experience with managerial and clinical leadership/transferable skills.
  • Sound experience in the area applied for or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Experience managing safeguarding presentations in children and young people.
  • Experience assessing, working with and managing risk.
  • Ability to safeguard and protect welfare.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of legislation related to children and/or adolescent mental health and social care (e.g., Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Child Protection and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Children).
