About The Role
The Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of Positive Behaviour Support across our children's homes.
You will work alongside our Behaviour Analyst to develop high-quality PBS plans, analyse behavioural data, coach and mentor staff, and ensure therapeutic strategies are implemented consistently.
Your role will focus on improving quality of life for young people by reducing behaviours of concern through proactive, evidence-based interventions and skill development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and update high-quality Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans using Behaviour Analytic principles.
- Ensure PBS plans remain current and are formally reviewed every six months or sooner where required.
- Support Registered Managers, key workers, and staff to implement PBS strategies consistently.
- Model best practice and provide Behaviour Skills Training (BST) to residential teams.
- Identify barriers to implementation and work collaboratively to improve outcomes.
- Behaviour Assessment & Data Analysis
- Collect, analyse, and interpret behavioural data.
- Maintain incident chronologies and behavioural records.
- Monitor behavioural trends and evaluate the effectiveness of PBS interventions.
- Support Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) alongside the Behaviour Analyst.
- Present behavioural data and recommendations during multidisciplinary meetings.
- Skill Development
- Complete skills assessments to identify areas for development.
- Support children to develop communication, emotional regulation, independence, and daily living skills.
- Develop visual resources, communication aids, social stories, and structured teaching materials.
- Promote the generalisation of newly acquired skills across home, education, and community settings.
- Staff Coaching & Development
- Deliver coaching and practical support to residential staff.
- Assist with PBS training sessions and workshops.
- Provide constructive feedback using Behaviour Skills Training techniques.
- Promote reflective practice and confidence within staff teams.
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children through evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support.
- Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, or behaviours that may challenge.
- Good understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles.
- Experience developing or implementing behaviour support strategies.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyse behavioural data and identify trends. Passion for coaching and developing others.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Positive Behaviour Support (or working towards).
- Degree in Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Nursing, or a related field.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the UK Society for Behaviour Analysis (UK-SBA).
- Experience supporting Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs).
- Experience delivering Behaviour Skills Training (BST).
- Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and children's residential care.
