Your role is to provide calm consistency, making sure they feel safe and supported through the night. Nights require vigilance as well as compassion. You'll handle routines like hygiene prompting or medication, respond if behaviours escalate, and ensure the home stays peaceful. It's a role for someone calm under pressure, who can bring a steady presence in the small hours.

What You'll Do

  • Your nights will be spent ensuring the children remain safe, cared for, and supported, while keeping the home calm and consistent.
  • Supervise the home at night, ensuring children are safe and cared for.
  • Support hygiene routines and occasional personal prompting with dignity.
  • Respond to behaviours with patience and calm, including physical aggression.
  • Keep children reassured if they wake, using low-arousal, trauma-informed strategies.
  • Record events clearly and hand over to the day team each morning.

  • We're seeking someone who can combine attentiveness with empathy, balancing practical vigilance with a nurturing presence.
  • Experience in SEN or residential childcare.
  • Calm, resilient, and consistent even in high-pressure situations.

  • Strong English communication skills and reliability.
  • Able to stay observant, patient, and compassionate throughout the night.
