We are looking for an In-House Assessor to assess and support staff completing Level 3 and Level 5 Residential Childcare qualifications across our services. This role is suited to someone with a strong background in residential childcare who understands the importance of quality, safeguarding and consistent practice.
The Role
You will assess learners in the workplace, support their development and ensure assessment practice meets awarding body and regulatory requirements. The role is hybrid, with flexibility to work remotely alongside visits to residential homes as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessing learners against Level 3 and Level 5 Residential Childcare standards
- Carrying out workplace observations, professional discussions and portfolio assessments
- Providing clear and timely feedback to support learner progress
- Planning assessment schedules with learners and managers
- Supporting learners with professional development where needed
- Maintaining accurate learner records and assessment documentation
- Working with IQAs and supporting external quality assurance visits
- Promoting safeguarding and best practice in line with Children's Homes Regulations
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA, A1 or equivalent)
- Level 5 qualification in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- Recent experience in children’s residential care
- Experience assessing Level 3 and or Level 5 in the workplace
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Children’s Homes Regulations
Desirable
- IQA qualification or willingness to work towards
- Experience working as an in-house assessor
- Familiarity with e-portfolio systems
Additional Information
- Enhanced DBS required
- Some travel to residential homes will be required
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is essential
