We are recruiting an experienced Care Manager to provide clinical and operational oversight across a specialist children's residential provision in Eastbourne. The service operates a blended model, where young people have their own individual living spaces alongside access to shared communal areas. This is a senior, practice-led role suited to candidates who have operated at Deputy Manager level or above and are confident overseeing care quality, compliance, and team performance across multiple services.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager and Deputy Managers to ensure high standards of care, strong safeguarding practice, and consistent delivery of trauma-informed support for children with learning disabilities, complex mental health needs, trauma histories, and high-risk behaviours, ensuring care is consistent, safe, and outcome focused.
Young People You Will Support May Present With:
- Significant emotional dysregulation and trauma histories
- Learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, and attachment difficulties
- Mental health needs including self-harm and crisis behaviours
- High-risk and challenging behaviours
- Poor placement stability and complex care needs
Your Role as Care Manager:
- Spend a minimum of one day per week in each home, maintaining visibility with young people, staff teams, and leadership
- Attend weekly meetings with the Registered Manager to review care quality, safeguarding, and regulatory priorities
- Attend and support weekly planning meetings with Deputy Managers
- Provide line management and supervision to Deputy Managers across both homes
- Oversee and support the Care Co-ordinator role (including satellite services)
- Support the assessment and admission planning of new young people
- Attend and contribute to professional meetings for all young people across the homes
- Support the Registered Manager with audits, action plans, and quality improvement following RI or regulatory feedback
- Monitor and quality-check ClearCare approvals and care documentation
- Work collaboratively with the Registered Manager on regulatory compliance, safeguarding, and best practice
- Maintain high standards of recording, reporting, and professional accountability
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in children's residential care at Deputy Manager level or above
- Strong understanding of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding
- Confident supervising senior staff and maintaining oversight across multiple services
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Comfortable using Word, Excel, and care management systems
- Able to balance operational oversight with relationship-based practice
- Emotionally resilient, professional, and values-led in approach
- Full UK driving licence (essential due to multi-site working)
