We’re looking for experienced children’s care professionals to join our team of adults looking after young people with learning disabilities in East Sussex.
Earn up to ÂŁ24.00 per hour.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
We are recruiting an experienced Care Manager to provide operational oversight and ensure structured, consistent and communication-led care at our specialist children’s residential home in Eastbourne. This is an Ofsted-rated “Good” home supporting up to five children and young people with learning disabilities and additional needs, including autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and ADHD. We support young people up to age 19 where they remain in full-time education and an appropriate adult placement has not yet been identified. Our focus is to provide a safe, nurturing and person-centred environment that promotes each young person’s wellbeing and long-term outcomes.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager to maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance. This role is suited to candidates who have worked at Deputy Manager level or above and are confident leading teams and overseeing quality within learning disability services.
The Young People You’ll Support May Present With:
- Severe to profound learning disabilities
- Autism and ADHD
- Non-verbal communication, using PECS, Makaton and visual systems
- Epilepsy and complex medical needs
- Sensory processing differences
- Behaviours of distress, including aggression, self-injury or spitting
- High levels of dependency for personal care and daily living
Your Role as Care Manager:
- Provide day-to-day operational and clinical oversight within the home
- Support and supervise Deputy Managers and senior staff
- Ensure safe management of medication, epilepsy and health protocols
- Oversee care planning to ensure communication, sensory and health needs are clearly reflected
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, risk management and compliance
- Monitor and quality-check ClearCare documentation and approvals
- Support structured routines that promote safety and wellbeing
- Attend and contribute to professional and multidisciplinary meetings
- Lead audits, action plans and continuous quality improvement
- Drive standards in line with Ofsted expectations and best practice
- Maintain excellent standards of recording and professional accountability
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience in children’s residential care at Deputy Manager level or above
- Level 3 & Level 5 qualifications in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities
- Confidence overseeing complex care and clinical needs
- Understanding of communication-led care, including PECS or Makaton
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Comfortable using care management systems, Word and Excel
- Professional, resilient and values-led approach
- Full UK driving licence
