Overview

Summary: The Compliance officer will ensure business processes and procedures are in line with regulatory requirements. The Compliance officer works closely with sales and aftersales teams, auditing their processes, ensuring consistency and compliance, and dealing with escalated customer enquiries.

What You'll Be Doing Day-to-Day:

  • Conduct weekly and monthly Quality Assurance (QA) checks across business functions, ensuring all activities meet the required standards and adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate completion of QA reviews and store documentation in accordance with business requirements.
  • Respond to and/or investigate all regulated complaints & build case file.
  • Monitor and review complaints handling across the sales team to ensure consistency, timely responses, adherence to internal procedures, and delivery of good customer outcomes.
  • Identify and communicate any risks or areas of non-compliance to relevant individuals and department managers efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify trends, patterns, and potential risks across teams.
  • Make recommendations for further reviews, training, and improvements to business processes.
  • Assist in the training accreditation process for new starters, ensuring they are competent in their roles and compliant with company policies and regulations.
  • Deliver feedback and coaching to employees where necessary, ensuring continuous improvement in their adherence to policies and regulations.

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • Experience conducting Quality Assurance (QA) checks across multiple business areas.
  • Demonstrated understanding of compliance monitoring, risk identification, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience producing MI (Management Information) reports and analysing QA data to identify trends.
  • Experience in complaints handling, including investigating complex and third-party complaints.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (FCA, UK GDPR, DPA 2018, DUAA 2025) and QA best practice.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarise findings clearly.

Desirable:

  • Experience processing Individual Rights requests (e.g., DSARs, Erasure, and Unsubscribe requests) and managing a data protection inbox.
  • Experience providing coaching and feedback following QA reviews.
  • Experience within the automotive, finance, or regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting training accreditation and competence frameworks.
  • Experience liaising with external stakeholders such as the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) or lenders.
